Here are the steps to lay instant turf
- Measure the exact area you are wanting instant turf, as you need to make sure you have enough to cover the area with a slight bit of leeway so you are not short from the edges. Using a tape measure, write down all the measurements including corners, hills, dips in soil, fencing and garden area the turf will be placed near.
- Consider the grass options you are wanting for your instant turf such as Kikuyu, Buffalo, couch, tall fescue, and whether you want premium grade or legend.
- Next you need to take your measurements and you ideal turf option to your local hardware store like Bunnings or Masters and discuss your options with a staff member. They can then help you further to choose the one best suited to your lifestyle and the climate and order the instant turf for delivery.
- You need to prepare your soil prior to delivery of the instant turf to allow the soil to set. Remove any rocks, weeds, debris and grass from the soiled area, by digging up the soil, adding a bit of lime fertaliser to treat the soil and moisten the soil ready for the instant turf to be layed.
- Once the turf is delivered it should be rolled out straight away to prevent drying out in the heat. When rolling out the turf it needs to be placed in the exact position you are wanting it to grow, as once its layed and watered within the first 30 minutes, avoid walking on and moving it around to prevent indentation.
- Important to note: Do not allow the turf to dry out completely. Routine watering and mowing will help your turf continue to be luscious and green as the day you put it in place.
